My Chemical Romance song video music

Created in 1998 in Los Angeles, California, by actor Jared Leto and his Older brother, Shannon, 30 Seconds to Mars initially began as a big family project. Matt Wachter later joined the band as bassist and keyboard player. After working with a number of guitarists (including Kevin Drake and Solon Bixler), the three auditioned Tomo Milicevic to round out the band’s official roster. After Wachter’s departure from the band in 2006, the Leto brothers and Milicevic continue on as a trio with additional touring members, including Tim Kelleher on bass.

Initially known for his work as an actor (most notably on the ’90s TV drama My So-Called Life, as well as movies like Requiem for a Dream and Fight Club), Jared Leto decided to flex his musical muscles as he approached his 30s. He enlisted the help of his brother and co-founded 30 Seconds to Mars in 1998. The group made its studio debut four years later, releasing a self-titled album whose post-grunge sound betrayed an affinity for groups like Chevelle and Incubus. Although it only acheived modest success, the eponymous 30 Seconds to Mars still laid the foundation for a healthy career. Moreover, it convinced the bandmates to forge ahead in spite of Jared Leto’s busy acting schedule, which had filled up with roles in Panic Room, Highway, American Pyscho, and Requiem for a Dream.

30 Seconds to Mars found success in the 2000s with a mix of post-grunge, screamo, and melodic hard rock. The band gained a modest audience with its self-titled debut, but it was the platinum-selling sophomore effort A Beautiful Lie that truly opened the flood gates in 2005, securing the band a healthy presence on MTV while paving the way for a series of successful tours.
The band’s third album, This Is War is a major leap forward for Thirty Seconds to Mars, one that cements the trio (lead singer and guitarist Jared Leto, drummer Shannon Leto and guitarist Tomo Milicevic) as a world-class arena-crushing rock band.

The L.A. Times calls This Is War “combative…sinister…the most confident-sounding thing the band has done.” Alternative Press echoes the sentiment, giving it four stars and hailing the album as “an artistic triumph for Thirty Seconds To Mars” and Kerrang! Magazine agrees, calling it the band’s “strongest and most accomplished work to date.”

Jared Leto comments: “It took two years, we went to hell and back. At one point, I thought it was going to be the death of us, but it became a transformative experience. It’s not so much an evolution as it is a revolution. It’s a coming of age.”

To guide their journey, Thirty Seconds to Mars enlisted two of the most influential producers in the world: Flood (U2, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins) and Steve Lillywhite (U2, The Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel).

“Flood has a karmic ability to work with bands in these intense transformational periods of their creative lives,” Jared says. “We knew we were ready for something new, something different, something unexpected. Flood was the perfect person to help guide us down this path.”

“Sonically it’s a new beginning, a rebirth,” Tomo says. “And as a songwriter, Jared was relentless. He went to a place that I’d never seen before.”

Flood and Lillywhite gave the band the freedom and confidence to explore different sounds, textures and ideas. “It’s a process that requires truth, honesty and a lot of hard work,” Flood explained, telling the press that the band set out to make a classic album by pushing themselves to a place they all knew wouldn’t be easy to go to. He added, “Those sorts of things I find very rewarding.” It was a process that began with Flood at the helm and concluded with the reigns in Lillywhite’s hands. The duo succeeded in heightening the emotional power of the songs, revealing themes of faith, morality, vindication, freedom and resurrection in recording their most personal and politically charged project to date. “Flood began this long journey with us and it was an unforgettable experience. He helped us on this quest to find out more of who we really are as a band and as individual musicians,” says Shannon. “Steve helped us finish, which is often the most difficult part of the recording process. We went to war alongside each of them and came out with love and respect for both.”

Kings of Leon achieved initial success in the United Kingdom with nine Top 40 singles, two BRIT Awards in 2008, and all three of the band’s albums at the time peaking in the top five of the UK Albums Chart. Their third album Because of the Times also reached the number one spot. After the release of Only by the Night in 2008 they finally achieved chart success in their native United States. The singles Sex On Fire, Use Somebody and Notion peaked at number one on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks, while the album itself was their first ever platinum-selling album in the US.

Go Green this Father’s Day

Everyone wants to get Dad the perfect present for Father’s Day to show everlasting appreciation for a lifetime of love and support. It is a general assumption that most fathers, and men in general, enjoy playing with cool tech toys. So it is always safe to assume that the special man in your life will appreciate a new electronic gadget. From the new hybrid Dell laptops to the latest iPad, they want it all.

So forget about the printed ties, “Number One Dad” T-shirts and pen collections, splurge on some new technology for the special man this year. As we near the launch of Windows 8, more and more users will be switching to hybrid devices or touch capable tablets. Don’t let Dad get left out on the new fad. But after he unwraps his shiny new upgraded toy, what will happen to his old, used and worn gadgets?

Electronic consumers are upgrading their devices more often these days than they ever have. What was cool today won’t be cool tomorrow. With so many fathers getting new gadgets and upgrades this Father’s Day, what will these tech savvy dads do with their old devices that have become obsolete? Some toss it aside to be chewed up and ripped apart by their younger children or grandchildren, but we all know the safety hazards of that. Some pass it on as a hand me down to a friend or family member in need, but hardly anyone wants hand me down gadgets these days. Some keep old devices forever in junk drawers. And some just toss it in the trash—the worst option of all.

The best way to get rid of outdated electronics is to recycle them—the proper way. There are a variety of programs like Call2Recycle, which is a free rechargeable battery and cell phone collection program in North America. Consumers can turn in all kinds of old devices such as cell phones, digital cameras, laptops, cordless power tools, and so much more. And this program has multiple drop-off locations at various community collection sites and nationwide retailers such as Best Buy, RadioShack, The Home Depot, Staples and Lowe’s.

The program’s survey revealed that 25 percent of men suffer from “‘green guilt,’ the knowledge that they could and should be doing more to help the environment.” Other than the classic recycling items such as paper, plastic and aluminum, not enough people remember to recycle other harmful waste such as batteries.

“Our research shows that more than half of us are holding on to old gadgets in junk drawers and elsewhere rather than recycling them—in part because they don’t know how or where to recycle old technology,” said Carl Smith, CEO and president of Call2Recycle. “Keeping electronics and used rechargeable batteries out of the waste stream is vital to the long-term sustainability of our planet.”

Give Dad a new gadget this year the green way, by helping him recycle his old devices as well.

Understanding Beck Depression Inventory

Depression is so common a lot of people tend to self-diagnose. Just because you have been crying for a few days doesnt really mean youre suffering from clinical depression. To determine if you have the medical condition or not, you have to undergo some tests. One of the most famous examinations is the Beck Depression Inventory test.

What is Beck Depression Inventory test?

Its also referred to as BDI. Its an assessment test a potential sufferer has to take to determine the severity of the symptoms of his or her depression. It is not an ordinary test. Its been recognized by the American Psychiatric Association.

Who can take the exam?

Anyone who is from 13 years old and up can take the examination.

What symptoms does it try to measure?

Almost all the common signs of depression are being measured by BDI. These include the following:

Feeling of sadness and hopelessness
Views on past failures
Feeling of guilt or self-dislike
Suicidal thoughts
Crying tendencies
Feeling of worthless
Lack of interest in certain activities
Loss of energy, fatigue, or lethargy
Insomnia
Irritability

How does it work?

The Beck Depression Inventory is made up of 21 questions, each with four different choices or responses you can choose from. Each of these choices has its corresponding score from 0 to 3, but that would never be revealed to you, until the exam is completed. Moreover, the questions are divided into two sets. The first 13 measure the psychological symptoms of depression while the rest assess the physical signs of the medical condition.

Once the exam is completed, each of the answers will be assigned its corresponding score, and they are summed up. The interpretation of the results will depend on the exam taker. If you have been diagnosed with clinical depression previously, the range between 30 and 63 denotes severe depression. If you have never been diagnosed, a score of 21 and up means you may be suffering from depression. Because of the different techniques of interpreting the results, its easier for the clinician or the health care provider to determine the subtype you might have.

What are the limitations of the exam?

The Beck Depression Inventory should never be treated as a diagnostic tool. This only measures the symptoms of depression. Further tests should be conducted before a doctor can officially confirm your medical condition as depression.

Moreover, you cannot take this all by yourself even if there are forms available in the Internet. Only a professional clinician or health care provider is allowed to request, give, and assess the examination.

What should I do if the tests say I have depression?

The first step is to not fret. First, you still have to obtain the official diagnosis from your doctor. Second, even if youre clinically depressed, there are ways on how to manage or even treat it, as long as you are cooperative.

It also helps if you try to maintain a more positive attitude. By keeping positive thoughts in your mind, you can uplift your mood and reduce the typical signs of depression. You can use subliminal messages or affirmations.

The Top Toys For Boys Rock for 2010

Are you shopping for your boys and trying to figure out what this year’s top toys for boys are? While some people think that finding just the right toy is a piece of cake, what they don’t really know is that one toy truck is not the same as the other and only certain action figures portraying cartoon characters will do the trick. However, kids as young as three can be knowledgeable with these things and they will hanker after their wants and never let up until they get it. If you’re one of those who are wondering just what that crazy looking Rip Rider does or what in the world a Bakugan is then you’re at the right place because these are some of the best toys for little boys for the 2010 holiday season.

Action Figures

There are several action figures included in the list of the top toys this Christmas which includes the Bakugan 7-in-1 Maxus Dragonoid based on the very famous Japanese anime. This toy will arrive as little balls in a package that can be turned into several different robots. You can also get the Bakugan Battle Arena which is very much like the Pokemon game years back where you can come to blows with three opponents and some magnetic spheres pop out as some of your favorite characters. The only thing to keep in mind with this toy is that both the cards and the action figures are sold separately from this kit.

Another action figure that is also based on one of the greatest animation from decades ago and turned into a major action flick is Transformers. Some of these toys like Bumblebee, Optimus Prime and their arch enemy Megatron are rather more expensive than the usual and it is no surprise , since these robots are collectors’ items and may be worth more in the next few decades.

Remote Control Toys

Have you ever met a boy who didn’t grow up with some sort of remote controlled toy? This can be an amazing gift idea this year for your young ones. The Fast Lane Wild Fire Monster Truck is so cool that it can do 360 degree turns, it has a real exhaust pipe with a bulb, and it has four wheel gears. At 20 pounds and 24 inches, this monster truck can be used on different terrains from smooth tile floors to your pebbled gardens outside.

Bigfoot the Monster, on the other hand, is a 9-pound gorilla which can walk back and forth, roars when angry or happy (one can never tell), raises his fists or strikes his chest with it, burps and says ‘excuse me’ and does so many other things with just a press of a button on the remote control that comes with it.

Trains

Although the most renowned train toy for toddlers is Thomas (and his friends), there are other sets which you can definitely get your little boy this Christmas which can last you a long time if you are a bit more careful about keeping every single part. This year’s standout train is the Tomica Station Hypercity Set that includes the coolest purple train, an incredibly long set of tracks that you can wind around your living room, a snazzy parking area for all the cars, and a Mega Station that lets you control the movement of everything.  There’s no doubt that this will be a favorite for the boys, making it one of this year’s top toys for boys for 2010!

Christmas shopping for your little boys will become much easier as soon as you can review this year’s top toys for boys.   There are so many great choices to choose from and you’ll be sure to find one to fit your child’s personality.  Holiday shopping will never feel like a chore again!
