Gene also helped Wendy O Williams in her post Plasmatics endeavors. He’s
been very supportive of a lot of artists.

rush opened for kiss back then, gene knows talent…he also had ac/dc opene
for kiss in 1977 and exposed them to the states..gene also discovered van
halen ,,look on VH 1st album…gene is a better bass player than you think
,,he simply coudn’t care less about what we think!..paul stanley also plays
and sings at the same time..not always easy..alex lifeson has nothing but
great things to say about ace and kiss..let’s not make issues where they
are not needed..kiss is going on to 40 years in 2013

Classic: The cockiest, sort of least musical band on the planet hitting it
off with the most humble, most musical band on the planet. Lol! Thanks
    Kiss…..nice shot!! (35+ years later.)

Alex said that Rush learned about how to work hard from Kiss…

the only reason why Rush got compared to Led Zeppelin, is that Led Zeppelin
was the only band to compare with. Every other so called “Heavy
Metal”-“hard Rock ” band had to have a singer to reach those high notes. so
at the time, when they came on, they thought zeppelin. but that is where
the similarities ended. I never thought the first album sounded like zep,
maybe a amatuer led zep, but never a direct copy. it was just a DIY, but
rush would get better. I LOVE THE FIRST ALBUM!!!

Didn’t that also happen with Skynard opening for the Who?

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley both are two of the most egotistical
musicians in the music industry, which is odd since Gene is not one of the
better bass players, nor is Paul one of the better rythum guitar players.
On the other hand, Frehley, Vincent and Kulick are all great guitar
players, and Eric Carr was one of the best drummers, and I have never heard
an egotistical word from any of them, like I keep hearing from Gene and
Paul about themselves all of the time.

This tour with Kiss was then definitely what brought Rush to the attention
of america and the midwest. Thanks guys for supporting such a great band!
Gene is actually a lot cooler than he acts.

kiss helped so many bands on their first tours…ac/dc – rush- wasp- iron
    maiden-bon jovi-motley crue-poison-skid row-bob seiger-judas priest-ted
nugent -warrant- scorpions- etc etc all have opened for kiss at one
point,,while people shit on kiss for whatever reason ..kiss still took
chances and became one of the most influential bands of all time…gene
simmons even discovered van halen ..lokk on VH1 1st album..they bthank
him…gene can usually be a big mouth sometimes…he’s very smart though

What a contrast. One band is highly regarded in the music world and the
    other has no musical credibility.

So quality is judged by how much something sells? In that case Madonna and
Lady Gaga must be amazingly talented. Fuck off you idiot…don’t make us
    KISS fans look fucking retarded.

GEE, HOW MANY SHOWS DID RUSH STEAL FROM KISS?..I’M THINKING EVERYONE!…IT
HAPPENS! i saw the same thing happen when Chilliwack opened for Doobie
Brothers. Doobies so bad, we left mid-act!

Why must we argue about Rush and KISS? I love both bands…Rush is clearly
much more musically talented, but some would argue that KISS was more
innovative and their live show was better. Who cares? I love Rush, not
because they are musically complex…because they are Rush and they make
music I enjoy. And I love KISS, not because they make simple
music…because they are KISS and I enjoy their music as well. It’s all
good old Rock music that is WAY better than the shit on the radio today!

@theEricoeric yeh ur talking about the first 2 or 3 albums…in the 70’s
most bands took a few albums to get going…by kiss alive in 75, that album
sold over 4 million in 3 years. in 14 months kiss went from selling nothing
to 4 million….like i said go back to school…and for the record they
were with casablanca for most of the 70’s, their biggest selling era…like
i said you need a history lesson !!!
